New Orleans raised, London based singer and songwriter Acantha Lang stormed onto the scene last year and won SoulTrackers over big time. The New Artist of the Year in our 2021 SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, Acantha issued a string of powerful singles that recalled the best of Stax, while simultaneously demonstrating her skills as a storyteller.

For her newest single, Acantha again provides a tasty helping of horn-filled Southern Soul that again highlights her powerful pipes. “It’s Gonna Be Alright” is an affirmation that, while we go through rough patches in life, they don't define us. Acantha tells us, “This song was inspired by my older sister’s struggles with her mental health and specifically after she called me when she was going through a very dark time in her life. I remember talking to her on the phone for hours, telling her “It’s Gonna Be Alright” and that she was loved and not alone. I wanted her to know that I believed in her and to keep her head up no matter what. Shortly after that phone call, I went into the studio with producer Jimmy Bralower in New York City and wrote the song.”

The advice to a hurting friend or family member goes down that much better when it is done with such an infectious tune. Check out “It’s Gonna Be Alright” – it’s our SoulTracks Song of the Month for July -- and welcome the incredible Acantha Lang back to SoulTracks
